Pilates for Pre and Post Natal
Being pregnant is a joyful and wonderful experience however for some it can also be a daunting and frustrating time, as our bodies change and our normal daily activities become harder and in some cases impossible.
Having been pregnant 3 times (all of which were a different experience), I am fully aware of the frustration, aches and pains we can sometimes feel with pregnancy, as well as the importance to be able to continue with daily life and stay fit and healthy.
Many women find Pilates to be one of best exercises to do, both during and after their pregnancy. Pilates and pregnancy go so well together as Pilates is great at building core strength and focuses the use of breath for strength and relaxation. If your abdominals, back, and pelvic floor muscles are toned, they will support a more comfortable pregnancy and delivery. Pilates is also famous for helping you get your figures back after your baby is born.
Pilates is very adaptable and the majority of the exercises can be modified as your body and abilities change. The modifications help you keep the intent of the exercise, but adjust the form to work for your body. Pilates will progress you well pre and post birth and leave you with a great foundation of strength.
I practiced Pilates through all of my pregnancies and found the benefits pre and post pregnancy to be invaluable.
