Pilates for Dance
Pilates is now being recognised as a way for dancers to improve technique and enhance performance.
As a dancer you need excellent core strength, balance and control but at the same time it is important to understand the effects movement has throughout the whole body. Pilates strengthens the deep core muscles of the abdomen and spine while working to correct muscle imbalances and restore the body’s natural alignment and symmetry.
The Pilates method allows you to strengthen and lengthen muscles simultaneously; flexibility is not sacrificed for strength, not strength for flexibility. Pilates is great for increasing stability and peripheral movement.
