My youngest is totally obsessed with ballet, to the point where we are either listening and dancing to ballet music, watching it or reading about it.
But the realisation of just how serious she is really hit home during one dramatic home matinee performance, when aged 3 she attempted an interpretation of some very serious moves from a ballet catalogue we had. With the help of her sisters and a few chairs she did pretty good job for someone so small (she definitely had us all in stitches for a good half an hour). Given this we felt the perfect birthday treat would be to take her to see a “real live” performance.
Becky, our beloved ballet teacher, recommended the English National Ballets’ My first performance, which are aimed specifically for children aged 3-6 years old, and are danced by second year students of English National Ballet School.
It looks perfect, and half the price of the usual London performances. So we are off to see Coppelia in April and a certain little person is already counting down the number of sleeps until the big day.
I cannot wait to see her little face light up as the dancers float on stage, I am pretty sure she will be mesmerised the whole way through.
